2022, a faucet bursts
You’re at home, standing in front of the sink. As you wash your dishes, you notice a murky purple, spreading through the water. The faucet begins to sputter and hiss, and before you know what’s happening, an entire meadow comes spraying out of the sink, and onto the walls! Welcome to the Mulligrub Meadow.

Take a deep breath and take a look around. Hear that thumping? See those flowers swaying in sync? There’s an “underground” dance party, featuring DJ Daizee, Mulligrub Meadow’s “biggest” DJ! It may look calm and breezy in the sun, but beneath the surface, you can let yourself go.

MULLIGRUBS
Mulligrubs are depression worms. They show up when you’re feeling down, and they feed on your gloom. Feel that weight on your shoulders? They may be here already. But don’t be alarmed! The Mulligrub Hunters are on their way to eat those nasty little bugs, and make you feel better.
MULLIGRUB HUNTERS
As you are slowly engulfed by the depression worms, the Mulligrub Hunters emerge from the flowers, eyes wide and hungry. As more and more Mulligrub Hunters pile on top of you to gobble up the Mulligrubs, their squishy bodies melt into yours, giving you a big, warm hug.

Where was this:
“HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW” is an artist-run collaborative visual journey that speculates the cycle of beauty, destruction, and rebirth. This interactive art exhibit features 35+ creative visionaries of diverse disciplines. I was given the kitchen to transform.
The entire duplex will be demolished at the end of 2022 with plans of a new housing project which will include a public mural, sculptural installation and one unit dedicated to affordable housing for the Blackland neighborhood in Austin, TX.
